Silk Road English Centre’s Ten Year Anniversary

Silk Road English Centre (SREC) in the Northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif celebrated the milestone of ten years this past November.

SREC’s highly qualified instructors have always provided for the community. That includes advanced level English classes, and English classes with a special focus, such as TOFEL. (TOFEL is a preparatory English examination to get into universities). They also provide classes with an emphasis on job skills, such as Medical English.

Many of their students work for offices and areas of influence in their communities. In addition, some SREC students have even gone on to win Fulbright scholarships and study abroad.

On the day of the celebration over 100 current and former students attended. Students who live in other areas of the country sent letters about how their studies at SREC helped them get a job. In addition, prizes were given out, speeches were made, teachers from former years were remembered, and a giant cake was sliced.
