Silk Road English Centre

The IAM Afghanistan English as a Foreign Language Mazar Centre is operated as the Silk Road English Centre (SREC).

SRCE was established in Mazar in 2003 with the goal of ensuring that Afghans are proficient enough in English to participate in international-level communications, relationships, education, commerce and holistic development.

In 2014, we asked: “Are we being as strategic as possible to equip the future generation to best serve their country?” For this reason, SREC chose to have its course evaluated. We wanted to see how we could enhance efforts to do just that.  The project was identified as having high-quality teachers who use good teaching methodologies, and as a result, this centre is known as the best place in Mazar to study English. Here at Silk Road English Centre, we want to continue to build on these strengths.

Today, SREC continues to offer a variety of courses to meet our students’ needs. Our classes are usually six months long, although some specialized classes may vary. At SREC, students learn from native English speakers, who practice participatory teaching. We actively encourage our students to engage in classes and take charge of their language learning.
