NOOR Hospital in Herat Unveiled After Renovation

On Wednesday, 20 September 2023, the IAM NOOR Herat Ophthalmic Centre (HOC) proudly showcased its newly renovated facilities. The inauguration ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including the Honorable Maulvi Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzadeh, Deputy Director of Administration and Finance at the Ministry of Public Health, the Honorable Maulvi Mohammad Taleb Shahid, Head of Public Health in Herat, and the Honorable Dr Mohammad Asif Kabir, Deputy Director of Public Health in Herat.

HOC, the sole facility of its kind in the western region, specialises in providing eye care services. It is a vital hub for six provinces, accommodating approximately 100,000 ambulatory patients annually and conducting around 6,000 eye surgeries. The hospital’s renovation represents a crucial milestone in improving eye healthcare services for the local community and surrounding areas.

Before the official ceremony, the distinguished guests took a comprehensive tour of the renovated hospital. They inspected various departments and facilities, expressing their satisfaction with the high standard of renovations and operations. This positive assessment underscored the dedication and hard work invested in this transformative project.

In his closing remarks, Mr Moin Sahib commended the hospital’s staff for their unwavering commitment. The dignitaries assured continued support for HOC, acknowledging its significant achievement in the nation’s healthcare sector. This development aligns with the Ministry of Public Health’s goal of enhancing healthcare nationwide.
