Q. Can anything be done to improve the organisation of dropbox folders?
A. The overall organisation is something that we are looking at. The organisation within a folder is ultimately up to the folder owner, though we are considering if it is appropriate to give some guidelines for project team folders.
Q. It is too easy to delete things. Can anything be done to make files/folders safer?
A. Dropbox now provide the ability to make an entire dropbox read only for certain users and writeable for other users. This is something that we are looking into implementing.
Q. Is there a way we can delete files we don’t personally need in dropbox without deleting them for everyone?
A. Yes, using selective sync. Here is the link to dropbox’s help page about selective sync.
Q. Should we consider google drive or some other similar program?
A. We did, but only one other program had the functionality that is most important here in Afghanistan (it is a program called shareplan and it is far more expensive than dropbox for no additional benefit). The most important functionality is LAN sync (where files are copied from other local computers rather than from the internet if they are available locally) and Delta Sync (where only changes to files are copied rather than copying the entire file).
