{"id":401,"date":"2014-11-09T15:46:05","date_gmt":"2014-11-09T11:16:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/it.iam-afghanistan.org\/?p=401"},"modified":"2015-04-15T15:02:39","modified_gmt":"2015-04-15T10:32:39","slug":"sending-email-with-different-identities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iam-afghanistan.org\/it\/sending-email-with-different-identities\/","title":{"rendered":"Sending email with different identities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you have multiple email addresses sending to a single mailbox it can be helpful to setup your mail client to allow you to send emails with multiple identities, which means that it would allow you at the time you send the message to choose which email address to send the email from. \u00a0Here are the instructions for different mail programs:<\/p>\n<p>Thunderbird &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/kb.mozillazine.org\/Mozilla_Suite_:_FAQs_:_Mail_Aliases\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/kb.mozillazine.org\/Mozilla_Suite_:_FAQs_:_Mail_Aliases<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Windows Live Mail &#8211; This only allows you to setup multiple inboxes, but that is fine. \u00a0What you do is you set up inboxes for your other identities and tell it not to include them when downloading new mail. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/windows.microsoft.com\/is-is\/windows-live\/mail-add-email-account-faq\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/windows.microsoft.com\/is-is\/windows-live\/mail-add-email-account-faq<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you are using IAM webmail then you will be using either HORDE, ROUNDCUBE or SQUIRREL MAIL.<\/p>\n<div>If you use HORDE you can go to Settings (the gear icon at top middle of the screen)-Preferences-Mail-Personal Information. \u00a0Create a new identity at the top, set the from address to be the address you are sending messages on behalf of. \u00a0If sending from a role based account please put the full name as &#8220;your name (your role)&#8221; or something along those lines. \u00a0The display name of a role based email account should indicate both the role AND the name of the person who is sending the message.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>If you use ROUNDCUBE, you can go to Settings (the gear icon on the top right of the screen)-Identities, then press the + button in the identities column on the screen. \u00a0The email line in the new identity column is where you put the email address that you are wanting to send messages on behalf of. \u00a0If sending from a role based account please put the full name as &#8220;your name (your role)&#8221; or something along those lines. \u00a0The display name of a role based email account should indicate both the role AND the name of the person who is sending the message.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>If you use SQUIRREL MAIL, you can go to Options, Personal Information, Edit Advanced Identities. \u00a0\u00a0In Add New Identity, the email address line is where you put the email address that you are wanting to send messages on behalf of. \u00a0If sending from a role based account please put the full name as &#8220;your name (your role)&#8221;
