How do you change the default language of your SIM to english? This is particularly relevant for data SIM cards as they are preset to Dari.
Answer:
On your phone, type *111# then press the send/call button. The network will reply with a question, the answer you need to give is 3 for English.
Question:
How do I find out the balance on my data SIM card?
Answer:
Using either your phone or the Etisalat application on your PC you can check your balance. To use your phone, remove the SIM from the USB modem and put it in your phone and send 505 to 606. They will reply with your current balance. To use the Etisalat application on your PC, change to TEXT mode in the menu at the top and send to 606 the number 505. You will receive your balance as a reply.
The reply will look something like this:
Main bal is AF (credit)1650.50 and expire date is 2015-01-10 00:00:00.2GB Data Benefit (credit)379370.00 and expire date is 2014-08-05 00:00:00.

You can see in this example that the card has 1650.50 AF in credit still and has a 2GB data plan activated. Of the original 2GB purchased only 379Mb remains. (The number 379370 is in KB. MB=KB/1000, GB=MB/1000)

How do I get customer service or technical support?
Answer:
Dial 888. This is a free call. A menu will offer you language choice and then department choice – one of the departments is technical support. To reach technical support though you have 5 free calls, after that they charge 1.3 Afs per call.
