Mazar Ophthalmic Centre

In 2016, the NOOR Programme provided eye-care to over 202,000 patients in Afghanistan.

The facility achieved 100% cost recovery of operational costs for the second year in a row, and MOC is an example of how affordable and sustainable eye care can be provided in Afghanistan without constant dependence on foreign donations. MOC has a residency in ophthalmology program. The project aims to train eye doctors who will then provide eye-care in regions of northern Afghanistan where there is currently little or no care available.
