Mazar Ophthalmic Centre

In 2016, the NOOR Programme provided eye-care to over 202,000 patients in Afghanistan.

The facility achieved 100% cost recovery of operational costs for the second year in a row, and MOC is an example of how affordable and sustainable eye care can be provided in Afghanistan without constant dependence on foreign donations. Representatives from both government and NGO hospitals have visited the NOOR Programme to ask advice on how to replicate MOC’s success in their own projects.

MOC has a residency in ophthalmology program. The project aims to train eye doctors who will then provide eye-care in regions of northern Afghanistan where there is currently little or no care available.
